Trip to Minn., Part 4 - Lake Vermilion
Sunday morning we left Swan Lake and headed over to Lake Vermilion.
We stopped at L&M so we could buy the kind of stuff you go there for: forceps to replace the ones of Cris' that I broke; Salted Nut Rolls; shorts to replace the ones of mine that got fish blood on them; a gas tank (that leaked in the car: ugh); a Daredevil spoon; socks for the kids; etc., etc.
The kids headed straight for the water:
We ended the evening with a campfire and s'mores by the beach. An exhausting day, to be sure:
The next day we headed into Tower to see the old train they have on display. Here's part of the next generation crew:
A few phtoto ops near the train:
After that we headed over toward the airport to try to introduce everyone else to geocaching, looking for cache GC16WRN, called "Tonto and the Lone Ranger" (a DNF to be sure). Everyone was excited, but we were interrupted by a vast swarm of angry bees. The less said the better, I think, but a few points stand out in my memory: Frank was smart to grab a little kid and run; Katie was a great nurse with the credit card; Grammie was smart to seek Benadryl so quickly; and The Bee-Keeper was a traitor for laughing at all of us while his Winged Minions left him unmolested.
After lunch and some hugs, the kids headed out to fish again. We caught not one but two crayfish:
That is a lot of blue sky and blue water
As we were wrapping up the fishing, four float planes flew by overhead in a group:
On the drive home, there was some (surprise, surprise) road construction on 35 that slowed us down. I had the leisure to take a few pictures of Minnesota countryside scenery:

That's probably the final post ever for that geocache site. At least you finished it off with a flourish.
