No self-confidence problems here, thanks

This one doesn't seem to be as assertive and confident as we'd like:

Christmas Eve, after the 4:00 Mass (where I was berated by a fellow parishoner who, after I gave her the last seats in our part of the church, castigated me for saving seats, and then her husband spent some twenty minutes quizzing me in the hope of discovering me to be one of those Liturgical Music Tourists who clog our church only on Christmas and Easter), we ate dinner in the living room as a special treat.

The Lad, above, was perched in his high chair with a mouthfull of chicken nuggets. By January 3rd, we would decide that he was pretty much done with the high chair. Ah, he's growing up so fast! *sniffle*

The Fabulous FedEx Box

Every year the kids await the arrival of Grammie & Grandpa's Fabulous FedEx Box from Minnesota. When it arrives, we drag out the opening as long as we can, purely torturing them. Then, we slooowly take out each gift -- and forbid them to touch anything. And juuust before they burst from the tension, we let them play in the empty carton for a while:

This year it was a nail-biter. Even though the box was sent overnight, FedEx didn't deliver it until three days later. It got as close as Warwick, RI, on Day Two before returning to Memphis for another attempted landing (this time through Boston). I called Federal Express twice a day to badger the dispatchers, and they finally admitted on the morning of December 24th that none of the drivers could go home until all the packages were delivered.

All's well that ends well, however, and the kids got to enjoy their annual styrofoam peanut fight before Christmas arrived.
