Trip to New Hampshire

We snuck up to New Hampshire on a Saturday (Aug. 20) and came back the following Monday (Aug. 22). We spent a few hours at Story Land the first day, all day there on Sunday, and thenvisited the North Conway Scenic Railroad and the Lower Falls Scenic Area along the Kancamagus Highway on the way home.

Story Land
There's lots of these cut-outs in the part of the park closest to the doors, where you also find The Old Woman Who LIives In A Shoe (And hands Out Stickers), Three Little Pigs, Little Bo Peep's Sheep`, etc.

Carolyn and Owen on the ride near Heidi's Chalet:

The swan boats at Story Land can be gently steered, but they go at their own pace.

On the train that circles the park:

Connor begged to go on a couple of Tilt-A-Whirl type rides (as seen here), but he got kind of upset as soon as it started. On this one, he ended up with Colleen holding her hands over his eyes and my arm around him. Poor little guy!

At the end of the day we went on this raft ride and then the flume ride, The Bamboo Chute. Connor is a little dubious in this picture, but he was miserable on the flume.

A charming, old-fashioned steam locomotive pufffed into the station a few minutes later, driving away all the tourists with its cloud of thick, stinking smoke.
