Hooray! No more water-boiling!
After a week of boiling our drinking- (and washing- and child-bathing- and...) water, they've lifted the ban and we can use our faucets again.
We first heard about the ban when the "reverse 911" system callled the house. The oldest child scooped up the phone, listened a moment, and then hung up saying that it was some policeman and we can't drink the water but she didn't really understand what he was talking about. *sigh*
Of course, tonight's automated call from the police department allowed as how the testing had not found anything -- implying that it was all in vain, but thanks for your cooperation.
We've been keeping a gallon jug of filtered water on the bathroom counter for brushing teeth. (Rinse with water from the fridge once, and you won't ask why.) Then Sunday night we went for dinner at the in-laws' house. The kids got baths before dinner, and on the ride home the Mrs. admitted to me in a low voice that she'd brushed her teeth with tap water. It sounded like quite the thrill.
